Vegan Enteric Film Coating

Disintegration time of coated tablets (10 % weight gain) in buffer (pH=6.8) after 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks of exposure to accelerate storage conditions (40 °C, 75% relative humidity) and prior exposure to 0.1 N HCl for one hour (USP). Disintegration time slightly decreased after 8 weeks, however, all tablets successfully passed the disintegration test, proving appropriate enteric protection after accelerated storage conditions.
Vegan / Vegetarian enteric coating
No shellac – only alginate.
AquaPolish® E is an enteric film coating system which is now available in food quality. This is a further developed formulation in food quality with better stability in terms of gastric acid resistance. In addition, the new formulation based on Sodium Alginate is now also vegan and easy to suspend in cold water. It is also plastic free and contains no nanoparticles.
Reasons for enteric coating of dietary supplements are manifold and range from protection of active ingredients from gastric acid (e.g. probiotics) to improved absorption of active ingredients in the gastrointestinal tract.
In order to determine the necessary coating thicknesses and to take individual requirements into account during development, we will be happy to carry out tests for you.
Vegan Immediate Release & Moisture Sealing
Film coating systems with immediate release or moisture protection properties not only protect dietary supplements from environmental influences but also enhance them aesthetically. Colors also play an important role in psychology, as they stimulate mood and support purchasing decisions, among other things. The right choice of the tablet color can therefore have a positive psychological influence on vegan nutrition.
Vegan – Qualitative Composition – AquaPolish®
To be able to call this film coating formulation vegan, the red pigment carmine was replaced by pigments made from fruits, vegetables and edible plants. The result is a coating that has the same color and performance as the origin formulation.
Our ready-to-use film coating system AquaPolish® for immediate release and AquaPolish® MS for moisture sealing can be custom formulated to meet your needs.
