CPhI – Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients – is the world’s largest pharmaceutical exhibition.

The CPhI Worldwide houses six zones representing each stage of the pharmaceutical supply chain. From APIs, fine chemicals and excipients to natural extracts. The CPhI unites over 45,000 visiting attendees and 2,500 international exhibitors. Networking and sourcing cost-effective pharma solutions from all over the world under one roof.

Like the last couple years, BIOGRUND was again a part of the world’s largest pharmaceutical exhibition. Placed in the excipients hall besides established companies. As usual, we were to be found in the excipients zone among other established companies. We drew a lot of positive attention because of our modern booth and technologies, like the air flow bed machine VENTILUS® V 2.5 (Romaco Innojet).

At the first day, we had our 20th anniversary party and a lot of people came by. It was nice get-together-event with lots of happy moments. A delicious jubilee cake was cut by our founder, Johannes Respondek. Moreover, our booth visitors could take place at our photo wall where polaroid pictures could be taken as souvenirs.

At the second and third day of CPhI worldwide, BIOGRUNDs annual get-together „Bier ab Vier“ took place after successful exhibition days. Customers, partners and colleagues joined our CPhI team at our booth.

We are looking back at a successful exhibition and we are looking forward to the next big events in 2020.

Funny side facts:
– Some event visitors thought about BIORUND as a Start-Up because of its young and innovative team
– “Bier ab Vier” means “beer at 4 pm”

Our annual BIOGRUND coating workshop took place on September 17th -18th in Huenstetten.
Our guests from all around Europe learned about coatings, excipients and our newest technologies in theoretical and practical units.

After a small get together, the first day started with some practical units. Internal and external speakers gave several lectures about layering & coating as well as pad printing. Afterwards our guests were able to see the learned topics in practice. The participants could discover our new innovation BonuPrint® with our pad printing machine Agate labo (Printing International) as well as the state-of-the art topic titanium dioxide free coating. Day one ended with a small gathering in Idstein and a bowling tournament with our guests.

Day 2 started with theoretical units on topics like coloring premixes, enteric release coatings and lactose for tableting. Hands-on experience in our R&D department were provided to learn new things about core coloration and direct compression with BIOGRUND excipients. A feedback discussion and a joint lunch formed a nice closure of a successful workshop.

In this framework we would like to sincerely thank our external speakers Dr. Anne Ettner, Glatt Pharmaceutical Services GmbH & Co. KG, Joachim Demeulenaere, Printing International, Dr. Philip Hebestreit, BASF SE and Dr. Sabine Hauptstein, Molkerei MEGGLE Wasserburg GmbH & Co. KG.

We hope our participants and guests enjoyed the workshop as much as we did. Thanks for participating! We are looking forward to our next workshop.

Kentucky, September 27 2019 – The official inauguration of the new BIOGRUND US location in Shelbyville, KY took place on Friday, September 27th. Visits and celebrations in our new building with our BIOGRUND US team, partners and politicians were held.
The moving and expansion of BIOGRUND US is another highlight in the companies history and 20th anniversary year.

After moving more than 500 miles from Virginia to Kentucky, we are very happy that our new locations can start operations. In this context, we further acknowledge the support of our partners, customers and all involved parties.

About one year after the groundbreaking ceremony the BIOGRUND US site has been opened. The newly constructed building provides space for several departments likes sales, customer service, technical service, quality control, production as well as research & development. After a company presentation by Dr. Specht, BIOGRUND USs XXX, and Benjamin Stephan, BIOGRUND USs XXX , and a tour through the production, the opening was celebrated with a small “Oktoberfest”.

In the past years, this reorganization has required much effort and energy from those involved in it, for which we would like to sincerely thank them.

A powerful voice in Europe since 1992, the International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council Europe (IPEC Europe).

BIOGRUND is a member of the International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council Europe (in short, IPEC Europe) with one mission: quality excipients for medicines. Developing and promoting harmonised international guidelines to create the appropriate quality and functionality standards to improve patient safety.

24 – 25 September 2019 | Vienna, Austria

The 8th annual conference on pharmaceutical excipients focused on regulatory guidelines relating to pharmaceutical excipients and technology. As part of the programme the IPEC offered “practical sessions” to provide detailed information about current IPEC Guidelines supporting industry to comply with regulatory requirements and other expectations.

These sessions focused on the content of the IPEC Guidelines and providepractical examples to facilitate implementation in a company’s quality system. Participants will learn how to use the guides in dailywork and can discuss with the speakers about their personal experience.

This year’s IPEC meeting was moderated by our technical director Dr. Mahmud Yunis. The three topics discussed and presented ranged from “Co-processed Excipient Guide for PharmaceuticalExcipients”, “Good Distribution Practices Guide for PharmaceuticalExcipients” and “Technically Unavoidable Particle Profile (TUPP) Guide”.
