The vegan trend. The vegan diet not only affects traditional foods, but also all types of food supplements in oral form. Many consumers are increasingly paying attention to the ingredients of food and dietary supplements, which is increasing the demand for vegan tablets and capsules. As a result, manufacturers should label their finished products as vegan in order to cater to this trend.
A film coating made entirely from vegan or vegetarian raw materials. On request, we offer formulations made exclusively from certified raw materials. Regardless of whether it is a new formulation or an existing one that needs to be reformulated. It is possible to produce a formulation from certified vegan raw materials.

Gastro-resistant film coating, vegan
Without shellac, only with alginate!
AquaPolish® E is an enteric film coating system that is now also available in food grade. This is a further developed food-grade formulation with improved stability in terms of gastric acid resistance. In addition, the new formulation based on sodium alginate is now also:
- vegan
- plastic-free
- without nanoparticles
Reasons for enteric coating of food supplements are manifold and range from protection of active ingredients against stomach acid (e.g. probiotics) to improved absorption of active ingredients in the gastrointestinal tract. We are happy to carry out trials for you in order to determine the necessary application quantities and take individual requirements into account during development.
Disintegration test
Disintegration time of the coated tablets (10 % weight application) in buffer (pH=6.8) after 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks under difficult storage conditions (40 °C, 75 % relative humidity) and prior exposure to 0.1 N HCl for one hour (USP). The disintegration time decreased slightly after 8 weeks, but all tablets successfully passed the disintegration test, demonstrating adequate gastric protection after accelerated storage conditions.
Immediate release & moisture-protecting film coating, vegan
AquaPolish® film coatings with fast-dissolving or moisture-protecting properties stabilize dietary supplements against environmental influences and enhance their aesthetic appeal. Colors also play an important role in psychology, as they can stimulate the mood and influence purchasing decisions, among other things. The right choice of tablet color can therefore have a positive psychological influence on a vegan diet.
Qualitative composition, vegan
To be able to call this formulation vegan, the red pigment carmine has been replaced by pigments from fruit, vegetables and edible plants. The result is a film-coated tablet that has the same color and performance as the original formulation.
